One of the ongoing projects in our cottage is the transformation of our living room. I have begun a classic sky mural on the ceiling. The girls helped me to paint the walls. I was inspired by a painting in our living room for the color palate. It is a muted sea palate that I think helps to bring a calming feeling into our space. I am a big fan of color, but did not want overwhelming color in the living room since I often times have the feeling of being overwhelmed as it is. With a bohemian flair and taking what we already have and incorporating some new paint and soon window coverings, I think we will have a place that might be at once Mediterranean sea with that bohemian flair that is at the heart of my aesthetic. Here are some photos of our on going project and some of the inspiration I met along the way.
As you can see our institutional looking vertical blinds are going to be replaced, but the ceiling is coming along. I am also going to work on the ceiling light fixtures to give them a nice patina and maybe add some glamour to them too!
Here is another angle of the ceiling project. I will post the pictures from beginning to end when the project is complete.
Folk art clouds from artist Scott Guion for the House of Blues, Orlando’s Voodoo Garden.
Fun use of color in this adorable kitchen. Get creative with the ceilings in all of your rooms. It is yet another blank canvas to express your artistic and bohemian style.
I love this night sky in this home theater! Very dramatic.
Pink is playful in the living room. It would be hard to be sad with this color combination.
How about adding some glamour to the dining room ceiling with metallic paint? I am thinking of doing this in my bedroom with a silver palate.
Another cloud mural by artist Scott Guion; this time with a Tibetan look. www.scottguion.com. This inspires me to try something like this in our tiny hallway.
Don’t forget about all the possibility with pattern and stenciling for the ceiling. Especially in the bedroom where gazing at them is made easier. Love that chandelier too!
Chalkboard ceiling! Chalkboard paint can be made in any color. Your imagination and creativity can go wild with drawing images or words that can be changed at any time.
