Have you been starting to think about company coming for the holidays? Setting a festive mood for the holidays is important for me to not get overwhelmed and sometimes downright depressed this time of year. I usually go about it my usual way of slowly collecting items that can be used to decorate around the holidays from post holiday clearance sales to my fave, thrift stores. I have recently become obsessed with trays. I found this deep red faux croc tray for a steal. Trays tend to corral your items and give the table a cohesive feel.
I love to use things from nature to decorate the table during the holidays. Free is my friend, and going on a hike and finding beautiful treasure to inspire and bring that holiday mood really helps set the tone for a meal shared with family and friends.
There is something I just love about rich beautiful peacock feathers used in decor. It seems to be quite the rage these days, but to me it is an enduring color combination. Do you prefer a touch of classic with your whimsical bohemian side, or do you go all out with bold bright color schemes around the holidays?
Though every bohemian marches to the beat of their own drum by definition, being bohemian by nature does not exclude an appreciation for the traditional. Sometimes there is a spin on the traditional, throwing in just a splash and then taking liberties from there to make it one’s own. I enjoy traditional colors and prints on my holiday table, yet there is always something unique and a little unexpected. Purple plates, feathers, a mix of colors and pattern all make for a more interesting and of course more bohemian table.
I would love to be able to have an outdoor table setting for the holidays, but here in Colorado that is just not realistic. I could just see the look on my family’s face when I announced we will be dining al fresco at Christmas eve! Then the look on my face when they came to cart me away! But just for sake of fantasizing, check out this use of traditional rustic decor in an outdoor setting…
The details of the table setting…
What do you think of a monochromatic theme for a holiday table setting?
The simplicity of this beautiful table would be perfect for Yule.
Bohemian style can also be glamorous, since of course it is anything you want it to be. Jewel tones, sparkling gems, velvet, anything that makes a statement.
I hope you found some inspiration here to get your holiday table all dressed up to celebrate with your loved ones. It truly is a gift to them to bring your creativity and select table decor that makes the event a memorable one not only for the food and company, but the ambiance and the feelings that are evoked.
Cheers!
